I’m not the only one losing my mind, Jeremy has joined me. On our way to church on Sunday we were talking about the town Ocoee (and how the Toys R Us there is closing). First Jeremy confused Ocoee for Oviedo, then he mixed up the street name Clarcona and called it Clarcoee (Clarcona and Ocoee). But the best was when I was laughing at him for the previous two mix ups and he said, “I’m just stress deprived ok!”. Which set me off in another whole round of laughs.

Gee, I just hate it when I’m stress deprived, if only there was more going on in our lives right now ; P

Our library has a bench seat under the window. It also has a 2 inch gap between the seat and the wall. Because of my butterfingers and what will one day be a mobile, curious Kingston, we were positive things would get lost behind the bench forever and have wanted to cover the gap since the beginning. Finding the time to do this has been a different story.

Saturday, Jeremy had the chance to cut a thin piece of board to fit the space and was showing me how it would fit, along with some quarter round he had cut to give the bookcases a more polished appearance. As we were sitting on the bench, I grabbed the quarter round to hold it up and in the process knocked the board for the gap down the gap it was meant to cover. I found this ironic situation hilarous, Jeremy however didn’t find it quite as funny. Apparently, some part of my brain is still somewhat intact because I was able to attach some duct tape to the side of the quarter round and shove it down the gap and retreive our board, saving Jeremy from having to cut another board. I have since been banned from going near the bench until the board has been secured in place : ). Sometimes I think I’m more of a danger to our house than any kid will ever be.

Last Wednesday, August 25th, Kingston and Mason met for the very first time and became instant best friends. We took tons of pictures of the boys while they slept through this big moment. It’s funny how big Kingston looked compared to Mason, we’re so used to Kingston being the small baby in the group. Mason loves his cousin and already felt completely comfortable with him, resting his head on Kingston’s shoulder, how stinking cute is that? Kingston also took his turn resting his head on someone’s shoulder, he’s already a fan of Aunt Steph and wanted some cuddle time.

I think it’s cool that they are only 2.5 months apart and know they are going to have so much fun growing up together!

I love to read. I have since I was little. It’s been a dream of mine for years to have a library, and this year when we bought our house, that became a reality. And now since we finally have space for books, when a local bookstore was selling books for $2, we took the opportunity to buy a few simple indulgences for each of us. I bought a few fictions from some of my favorite authors and then I bought a few “mommy books” from some authors I have never heard of, while Jeremy bought books on art and design.

Saturday night, as we laid down in bed after a busy day of housework and birthday parties, I pulled out a new book to help me unwind and relax before falling asleep. I hardly made it through the first page of The Second Nine Months before laughing out loud and interrupting Jeremy from his book to read aloud what I had just read. And then I preceded to continue to interrupt Jeremy as I read additional pages, and when I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer I put it down, only to grab it again before heading out the door for church on Sunday, to read it in the car to him. As we laughed on our way to church, relating way too much to the adventures of this author’s journey into parenthood, it prompted Jeremy to express that he is sure I wrote this book under a pen name, changing the names of the innocent to protect their identity.

I’m only on chapter two, but if the rest of the book is as good as the first two chapters I won’t be disappointed with my $2 find. So if you’re a new parent and you need a good laugh, perhaps to feel like you aren’t alone in this crazy journey, I encourage you to pick it up. Laughter is good for the soul.

On Friday the 20th, our nephew was born (see this post) and I couldn’t wait until I got off work to go see him. Kids aren’t usually allowed in the maternity ward and I didn’t want to take Kingston in the hospital anyway, so a co-worker generously stayed at work an hour late so that Jeremy and I could run across the street to the hospital and meet Mason. We spent an hour holding him and staring into his sweet face.

After two days at South Seminole Hospital being induced (his due date was August 13th and the Dr. wanted him out), he arrived at 1:10 a.m. via C-section. Mason had a big red circle on his head from where they had to pull him out by a vacuum. Poor baby! Thank goodness we don’t remember being born.

We’re excited to have Mason as a new addition to our family! He is precious!
